Philadelphia Eagles Madden Gameplay Photos and the Eagles NFL History

The NFL's Philadelphia Eagles were founded in 1933. This franchise has a rich history that features three NFL Championships (1948, 1949, 1960) and several Super Bowl appearances, culminating in victories at Super Bowl LII and Super Bowl LIX.

Founding and Early Years (1933–1943): The team came into existence on July 8, 1933, when a group led by Bert Bell and Lud Wray bought the remains of the now-defunct Frankford Yellow Jackets for $2,500. During World War II, a significant shortage of players led to a temporary merger between the Eagles and the Pittsburgh Steelers in 1943, forming a team affectionately dubbed the "Steagles".

The 1960 Title and Rocky Decades: The Eagles secured their next NFL Championship in 1960, beating the Green Bay Packers 17-13 under head coach Buck Shaw. However, after this victory, the team went through a long dry spell. It wasn't until 1980 that the Eagles made their first Super Bowl appearance (Super Bowl XV), which they lost to the Oakland Raiders.

The Andy Reid Years: With head coach Andy Reid at the helm with Eagles QB Donovan McNabb, the Eagles made it to the NFC Championship game five times and reached Super Bowl XXXIX. Super Bowl LII: In the 2017 season, head coach Doug Pederson led the team to an exciting win against the New England Patriots, earning their first Super Bowl title ever.

Rivalries and Fanbase: The Eagles have a dedicated and passionate fanbase that has sold out Lincoln Financial Field for every home game since 1999. Their fiercest rivalries are with NFC East division foes: the New York Giants (considered one of the best rivalries in NFL history), the Dallas Cowboys, and the Washington Commanders.
