Madden NFL 2000 is a football video game. This installment is the fourth in 3D for the Madden NFL series and is the second game in the franchise not to have John Madden on the cover in North America (the only other time was Madden NFL ’95). Most versions of the game feature Madden prominently in the foreground, with a well-known Barry Sanders in an action shot in the background. Sony issued a version of Madden NFL 2000 for the Sony PlayStation PS1 in 1999.
However, the European PAL edition only shows Dorsey Levens on its cover. In the Macintosh version of Madden 2000, the intro video on the CD-ROM includes an unnamed track by rapper Ludacris. This game is notable for being the first Madden title available for the Nintendo Game Boy Color and also the first to launch on both PC and Mac platforms.
As you can see in the Madden 2000 gameplay photos, Madden NFL remains pretty similar to earlier titles like ’97, ’98, and ’99. But it does bring in some new features, such as a breakable wrap tackle, dive catching, and more. Plus, it’s the first game to feature the newly re-branded Tennessee Titans and the return of the current Cleveland Browns, making the total number of NFL teams 31, with 16 in the AFC and 15 in the NFC. This balance wouldn’t be restored until the NFL's Houston Texans came into the league in the 2002 season.
